As Muslims all over the world mark the end of this year’s Ramadan fasting, the Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress Party in Oyo state, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has enjoined Muslims to continue to pray for the nation in this trying times.
Chief Adelabu made the call in his Eid el Fitri message sent to Muslim faithfuls in the state on the successful completion of Ramadan fasting ushering in the Shawwal which is the 10th Month of Muslim Lunar calendar year.
In the statement made available to journalists by one of his Media Aides, Comrade Femi Awogboro, Chief Adebayo Adelabu congratulate Muslims for witnessing the conclusion of this year’s fasting which was observed in the most unusual circumstance in the midst of Novel Covid-19 pandemic which has redefined our social, economic and spiritual activities in its entirety.
The holy month of Ramadan presented a unique opportunity for Muslims to support the global efforts to end the COVID-19 pandemic with fervent prayers to Allah for mercy. He appealed to Muslims that the end of Ramadan fasting should not deter Muslims from continuing their prayers for the Nation as we need divine intervention to see to the end of this pandemic.
While felicitating with Muslim faithfuls on the Eid el fitri celebration, the former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria also extended his heartfelt condolences to some prominent illustrious sons of Oyo state who lost their lives in the month of Ramadan as well as those that were lost directly to the Corona Virus Pandemic. He specifically mentioned Chief Richard Akinjide, a legal luminary and a former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the federation, Chief Murtala Adebayo Adetunji, a renown business mogul popularly known as Adetunji Onisiga and Rt. Hon. Kehinde Ayoola, a former Speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly and the Commisioner for environment in the current administration. While he eulogised the three of them for their various contributions in their different areas to the socio-economic and political development of Oyo state, he prayed that the Almighty Allah grant them eternal rest and their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
He also used the opportunity to remind all Oyo state residents on the need to continue to adhere to all the precautions against the spread of the Corona virus as advised by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and other health bodies.
Precautionary measures like physical distancing, use of face mask when going out, washing of hands and covering of mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing must be strictly adhere to by all.
