The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi has congratulated Muslim faithful on this year’s occasion of the Eid-el Kabir celebrations scheduled to hold on Friday, 31st July 2020.
Dr. Fagbemi while addressing OYRTMA Zonal Commanders drawn from the thirty-three (33) Zonal Commands in the State today, laid particular emphasis on the conduct of motorists during this festive period reiterating the critical need for proper vehicle maintenance and obedience to road safety rules as the surest way to avoiding monumental road crashes that usually result to casualties or complete destruction of valuable properties.
In his words, the OYRTMA Boss said “we are in the know of the increased volume of traffic across the major highways in the State particularly in Ibadan metropolis, Oyo town and Ogbomoso axis. This is only normal as the State is experiencing a tremendous influx of the sons and daughters of Oyo State from far and near who has come to felicitate with their families and loved ones on the occasion of eid-el kabir and also to enjoy dividends of the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration.
To this end, we have strategically positioned our men to man the gridlock-prone areas especially in Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun and Oyo town.”
He further advised that in the face of the ravaging global pandemic “it is pertinent the measures and regulations guiding against the continuous spread of the lethal corona virus disease (Covid-19) such as the use of nose/face masks, maintaining social and physical distancing, staying away from large crowds et. al. are maintained at all times as the operation one passenger policy remains in full force.
Our special rapid rescue operations and ambulance system too shall be opened 24hours a day to attend to emergencies from any part of the State. We must equally admonish our brothers and sisters in the business of ram selling during the celebrations to desist from causing undue obstructing or impediment to the free flow of traffic along road corridors”, he advised.
Mogaji Akin Fagbemi however beseeched all motorists including those on transit via Ibadan to take extra care as the roads are not only affected by increased vehicular traffic but also the atmospheric condition occasioned by the rainy season.
Whilst thanking Almighty Allah for the great privilege to witness this year’s Eid-el kabir, Dr. Fagbemi prayed for the sustenance of peace, unity and progress which the State is enjoying under the incumbent leadership of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.
