As the Muslim ummah mark this year’s Eid-el-Maulud, the Chairman Parliamentary Council, Oyo State House of Assembly, Ayotunde Fatokun and the Chief Whip of the House, Akeem Adedibu have urged Nigeria Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the virtues of Prophet Mohammed (PBH) and imbibe same for a better Nigeria.
In his goodwill message to the Muslim faithful, Fatokun said, “Prophet Mohammed displayed virtues of selflessness, tolerance, peace, love and fairness, pointing out that these virtues will always be required in the Nigerian society if the nation must achieve its full potentials.”
“He said Nigeria is in need of patriotic and selfless citizens who will put national interest above self and go the extra mile to both defend the nation’s unity and uphold her power and glory.”
“He therefore called on Nigerians to join hands to build a better future for posterity and urged the Muslim faithful to exemplify the virtues of the Prophet of Islam while using the Eid-el-Maulud celebrations to pray for divine intervention in solving the nation’s security challenges.”
On his part, Hon Akeem Adedibu said the greatest honour Muslims could do Prophet Muhammad is to follow his shining examples of non-violence, peaceful disposition and remarkable virtues of patience.
Adedibu said this in his goodwill message to the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the Maulud celebration to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
“Putting into practice the great virtues for which the Holy Prophet Muhammad is historically famous and revered would have a far greater impact on changing our attitudes and behaviours than the best sermons ever will.”
