The family of the late political Juggernaut and friend of the masses, Temitope Olatoye Sugar has pledged their unalloyed support to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and his government. The political family of the late politician stated this on Saturday at a media parley with journalists at Spice Kitchen (Former Hon Olatoye Sugar Campaign Office, Bodija- U. I Road, Agbowo, Ibadan.

Speaking at the parley, the elder brother to the late Sugar, Hon Olajide Olatoye popularly called “Big Daddy” said, “we don’t cheat people but we hate to be cheated, when you cheat me, I feel like killing myself. I won’t hesitate to to go to any length with whoever comes up cock and bull stories and unverified news with the view to tarnishing our reputation. He urged journalists to be factual and objective with their news reportage.”

Speaking on the relationship between Sugar political dynasty, Foundation and Governor Makinde in terms of political patronage or compensation, Big Daddy said, “we are not betrayers and we stand by what we believe in. Governor Makinde made a promise, he said something to us. He is someone we know that is performing, when you study the body language of Seyi Makinde and his government, we believe in him. Our own political ideology is not all about compensation but doing what will be beneficial to the masses. We move the state to greater height with him, we want to contribute our quota.

We want the masses to feel our impacts through Sugar Foundation and for the masses to know that Sugar is still alive through his Foundation.” Whether we are compensated or not, we stand by Governor Seyi Makinde. We are with the PDP because we believe in Seyi Makinde. We will never go back to APC where we came from. They are betrayers.

If the government and the party continue to prioritise human welfare, we will continue to work together. Nobody that will like to work for a cause and say he doesn’t want to be compensated. Nobody will be happy that he or she hasn’t been compensated but that will never push us back to APC. We only have two major parties in Nigeria, we can’t do without parties. Regardless of whatever happens, we will still be with Seyi Makinde. ”
Speaking on the rumour that late Sugar worked for APC in the gubernatorial election, the political family said there were evidences to show that Sugar worked for the emergence of Seyi Makinde as confirmed by the Governor himself. “We want to thank Hon Kamil Akinlabi who showed the Governor that Sugar convinced him to work for the PDP on election day. He showed the bank statement which contained a sum of One million naira transferred by Sugar on election day to him and the money was used for the election in all the four local governments in Oyo.” The family described the OYSROMA boss as a dependable ally of the Sugar political dynasty who has never abandoned the family since Sugar’s demise.”

Had Sugar not yielded to their plea and rescued the situation in his village at Lalupon, who would have been alive today. So Sugar sacrificed his life for the PDP victory in the 2019 election.
