Elite Muslim Organization, ‘The Companion’ Gets New National Executives As Scholars Calls For Functional System For Nation Building

 

Delegates of Muslim men in business and professions, the Companion , with districts branches in Abuja , Lagos, Kwara, Oyo , Osun, and Cross river states , at the weekend converged on Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for a three day National conference designed to proffer solutions
to challenges facing the country.
The event held at the Koltol Plaza and suites, Ikolaba , also featured public lecture and inauguration of new national excutives .
Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Economic Affairs , Prof. Musibau Babatunde , while speaking on the topic ” Forging A cohensive Country Amidst Existential Threats Of Insecurity And Poverty” harped on the need to develop a functional system where people’s welfare will be given utmost priority .
Prof. Musbau, who identified embezlement as one of the factors responsible for insecurity, advocated employment based growth societies , which according to him, is capable of reducing poverty , insecurity and development of various sectors of the country .
Also speaking , Prof. Afis Oladosu , Dean Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan and DCP, S. O Akinfenwa , Head , Homicide Section, FICD Annex , Alagbon , Ikoyi , Lagos, said it became imperative for people in power to at all times take responsibilities of the positions they occupied and also give room for genuine collaboration of law enforcement agencies in order to overcome existential threats of insecurity and also attain a cohesive nation .
In his welcome address , The Immediate Past National Amir of the companion , Alhaji Thabit Wale Sonaike ( FCIB) , emphasized the need to urgently address the issue of disunity as nation and insecurity which have manifested to economic recession .
Sonaike, thereafter admonished the newly appointed national executives of the companion not to loose focus but remain vangard for the less privileged and muslim community .
The Newly Elected National Amir of the organization , Engr. Kamil Olalekan of Kwara district, while speaking on behalf of the executives , said the companion will forge strategic alliance with other sister’s muslim organisations to ensure muslims attain developed system that will make them function well in their endeavors .
Erg . Olalekan, sought for support of the companions and promised to pursue the four cardinal points of the association, which includes Islamic religion propagation and enlightenment , education, economic empowerment and strategic and community engagement with figures .
