Empowering Futures: Dr. Akande’s Educational Initiatives in Oyo State Yield Remarkable Results

Education is an important tool in building communities and attaining national prosperity. In Oyo state, Dr. Akande Kazeem Babatunde has been at the forefront of philanthropic activities bordering around education and youth empowerment. Numerous projects and empowerment have been done in his name alongside organizations who share in his dream to build a society where all have access to education.
Dr. Akande started a well coordinated tutorial class across the ten (10) wards in Ido Local Government (ATM Building Eleshinmeta, Leo Community High School Oloko, Saint Michael Owode, Community High School Bako, United Secondary School Omi Adio, Saint John Secondary School Omi Onigbagbo, Community High School Bakatari,Community Primary School Lasokun, Community High School Apete Ayegun Apete, Akufo High School Akufo, Community High School Ido and Community High School Ologuneru).
The tutorial was aimed to cater for senior secondary students writing SSCE and UTME examinations. The tutorial holds across 12 centres in Ido Local Government with over 700 students benefitting weekly from it. The tutorial bore its first fruits after the results of UTME examinations were released. Despite the mass failure reported by JAMB as only 24% of candidates scored 200 and above (76% scores below 200), students from the tutorial facilitated by Akande have demonstrated the usefulness of this extra classes. More than 10% of the students scored above 200 in their JAMB examinations.
Akande has commended the students and all who have made this feat possible. He noted that his commitment to ensuring everyone has the right education was not limited to the tutorial. He noted that all students who scored above 200 in their UTME examinations will be called to a physical meeting to discuss how he can support their academic pursuit. He emphasized that all students will be supported to get into their chosen institutions and measures will be put in place with partner institutions to ensure there is an alternative for those who don’t get their first choice institutions.
In addition, Akande said that all students who were part of the tutorial have access to the annual IT empowerment where there can learn ICT skills before they further their education. More importantly, Akande has committed to ensuring that the tutorial keeps running to ensure that students who want to prepare for Post UTME and other external examinations have access to the help they need.
Akande concluded by reiterating his commitment to supporting education as youth empowerment. He noted that this conviction to support education is in advancement of the efforts of the Governor of Oyo State, Oluseyi Makinde, and the Omi Tuntun 2.0 agenda.
