Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde has vowed to ensure that families of police officers killed during the ENDSARS protest get due compensation as well as grant other requests made by the state police command
The Governor who made the pledge during an interaction with men and officers of the police force during a visit to the state police command, Eleyele Ibadan urged the officers to put behind the ugly events of previous weeks across the nation and work together with the state government together with other stakeholders in building trust in the people while restoring orderliness and stability into the society
Sympathizing with the police on the death of police officers, burning of police stations and other casualties, Governor Makinde noted that his expressing support for the ENDSARS protest, did not imply dislike for the police rather a desire for a better society
Earlier the Deputy Inspector General of police, DIG in charge of south west, Leye Oyebade insisted that the role of the police force could not be outsourced and urged officer to be proactive, take charge and ensure a calm Oyo state
Also, in their seperate remarks the commissioner for police, Joe Nwanchukwu Enwonwu and Brigadier General Adesoji Ogunsugba of 2 division Nigerian Amry, implored officers to stand against intimidation, follow the directive of the Inspector General of police and fully occupy the space, adding that they could not abdicate their responsibilities
