FG to Provide Relief Materials to Victims of Shasha Mayhem

Following the recent crisis between the Yorubas and Hausa community in Shasha, Ibadan, President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management Social Development to activate the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for immediate response in the provision of humanitarian supports to the affected persons.

On arriving, The Director General of NEMA, Air vice Marshall, Mohammed Mohammed (retired) represented by the Director Relief and Rehabilitation, Onimode Bandele and his crew accompanied by the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency SEMA paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Governor of the state, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde.

The team revealed that the mission was to strengthen NEMA Southwest zone and the state chapter to access havoc wrecked on the market, to determine the cost of its rehabilitation.

The Oyo State government assured the agency of its readiness, pledges support and appreciate the effort of the federal government.

The NEMA and SEMA entourage who later visits the palaces of Seriki Sasa, and Baale of Sasa, the community and the market, respectively called for people’s cooperation during the process for federal government intention to be fulfilled as soon as possible.

Adding that humanitarian assistance inform of food and non-food items will be distributed to affected persons in earmarked areas like Akinyele, Main Gate, Sabo and Ojoo.

The Seriki Sasa, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin and the Baale of Sasa, Chief Akinlade Ajani who commended the intervention of federal government and the state government called for quick fulfilled of the promises.
