The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Command, has advised transporters in the state to adhere to all precautionary measures and avoid intake of alcohol and other substance that could affect their sense of judgment while driving during the festive season.
The Oyo State FRSC sector commander, Mrs. Uche Chukwura, gave the advice on Wednesday in a chat with Noble FM’s correspondent, Micheal Oladejo.
According to Mrs. Uche, necessary mechanisms have been put in place by the command to ensure that Oyo citizens and commuters who use the state as transit routes to other states are not trapped in traffic during the festive period.
Chukwura, who hinted that over a thousand personnel have been deployed to control and manage traffic during the Xmas and New Year Festivities, advised drivers to drive safely during the Yuletide, noting that only the living celebrates.
Also speaking, the Oyo state director, National Orientation Agency, Mrs. Dolapo Dosumu, cautioned motorists against impatience and rush at various routes in the state to forestall unnecessary crashes and to prevent all superstitious beliefs about ember months.
In the same vein, she appealed to the leadership of the road transport workers in the state to embark on sanitization campaigns to educate and instill best practices amongst their members.
