Executive chairman of Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority, Mogaji (DR) Akin Fagbemi has revealed that Oyo State Government will recruit more traffic officers in 2021 as part of measures outlined by the Seyi Makinde led administration to control traffic situation in Ibadan.
Fagbemi stated this on Sunday while speaking with GOALPOACHER NEWS.COM. He noted that the influx of people and motorists into the capacity city is as a result of the Governor’s giant strides in the areas of improved standard of living, free and qualitative basic education among others. His words:
“It’s 2021 and we are fully aware of the growing challenges of traffic flow in Ibadan Metropolis. Our men and officers had been working round the clock to meet these challenges.”
“The current traffic situation is not unconnected to the significant strides of the Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration in the areas of improved standard of living, free and qualitative basic education, unprecedented welfare packages for active and retired workforce as well as enabling environment that has drawn several thousands of persons, entrepreneurs, businesses and jobs to Oyo State with the hope to tap from the current relative socio-economic stability and progress of the Pace Setters State.”
“To meet this growing challenge, in his New Year Broadcast, the Executive Governor, H.E. Engr. Seyi Makinde had itemised steps being taken by the State Government to significantly mitigate the impact of the apparent influx of persons into the State and the resultant traffic loggerheads viz massive construction of alternative routes, expansion and rehabilitation of existing roads.”
“Employment of more traffic Officials in the year 2021 and improved collaboration between the relevant government agencies.” Fagbemi concluded.
