Standard Club, a social non-political, non-religious and non-tribal association comprising people of like minds with the prime objective of individual and community development, has commended Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju’s great strides in bringing developmental projects to Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.
According to the president of the association, Alhaji Kunle Salami, on Saturday, July 6, 2024, while praising the lawmaker for yielding to the call of the club despite the short notice and his tight schedule, stressed that Hon. Adepoju has redefined the true meaning of accessible representation.
“Despite our diverse religious and political affiliations and in line with our objectives, the club values itself as an association, values and respects its members, and also values and appreciates people for their deliverables to community development.
“It is in recognition of these that the club deems it fit to recognise and appreciate you for what you are doing and also to call your attention to some areas we also currently believe will lift up our community,” the group said.
Commending the lawmaker, the ground emphasised that the newly awarded government project of dualization of Sokoto to Badagry Road will open up and develop many communities along the proposed road, including Ibarapa Communities and its environs.
The association raised great concern that if the project starts in Sokoto, as reported, it might take a longer time to get to the Ibarapa region of Oyo. The association enjoined Ibarapakan to use his influence, as he has demonstrated over time, to talk to his colleagues in the House of Representatives from the South West region to make the Federal Government of Nigeria start the project from both Badagry and Sokoto simultaneously.
The group of like-minded individuals also made the case for the ongoing Ibadan-Eruwa-Igboora Road. It said it was not unaware that the project is ongoing but maintained that it’s at snail speed, lamenting that a number of lives are being lost on a daily basis, especially hospital referrals to UCH Ibadan.
It further noted that the dilapidated road has posed a negative effect on businesses in Ibarapa as a whole, urging the lawmaker to use his good relationship with the hardworking Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to complete the project on time as done in other geopolitical zones of Oyo State.
The lawmaker, in his remarks, appreciated the club for their role in shaping the region. Hon. Adepoju said he would never assume to know more than the people who gave him the mandate to serve, saying being a representative doesn’t give him any room to impose anything on the people of the constituency.
He promised to work assiduously to meet the two demands of the association, which he said would contribute to the development of his community.
While congratulating Ibarapakan on his prosperous first year in office, the group presented an award of excellence to the lawmaker in recognition of his ongoing infrastructural development in the Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency of Nigeria.
