The President’s Malaria Initiative for State(PMI-S) a project of United State Agency for International Development(USAID) has donated some laboratory equipments, office furniture and other essential items worth millions of naira to Malaria Reference Laboratory and Training Centre Jericho Ibadan to complement and improve on the qualitative and affordable health care delivery of His Excellency Engr Oluseyi Makinde tagged Sustainable health care services to the people of Oyo State.
The chairman of Oyo State Hospitals’ Management Board,Dr Akin Fagbemi commended the President Malaria Initiative for State (PMI-S) programme for the donation at this crucial time when Governor Oluseyi Makinde is trying all his possible best in making sure that the dividend of democracy cut across all the nooks and corners of Oyo state as a whole.
Dr Fagbemi stressed further that the laboratory centre will be transformed into a training center for laboratory scientists.The initiative is aim to attract trainees from various locations,creating a hub for professional development and capacity building.
He promised the agency that the board will do all in its capacity to make sure that those equipments were judiciously use for the betterment of mankind and progress in the health care system in the state.
He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the laboratory is utilized effectively to serve the people of Oyo state.
The state coordinator of PMI-S,Dr Esther Ayandipo said the project donation and hand over of office furniture and laboratory equipment are part of PMI-S’s broader health system strengthening efforts.These assets are expected to enhance laboratory’s functionality and support the state malaria elimination programs.
Present during the handing over programme is the chairman of OYSHMB,Dr Akin Fagbemi,the Permanent Secretary in the board Dr Anifat Ibraheem,the Director of Pharmaceutical services Dr Adebayo Ganiyu,the Director of Biomedical and Engineering services Engr Oluwaseun Ojelabi,the Director of Medical Laboratory services Mrs Bosede Yusuff while on the part of PMI-S are the state coordinator Dr Esther Ayandipo and Dr Adetomiwa Gbolade the Case Management/Malaria in Pregnancy Officer.
