Hon Adekoke AAA Opens Vocational Training, Job Centre to Tackle Unemployment in Ibadan in Memory of Late Father
The founder and CEO of Aderoju Ayoade Adekanmbi Foundation for women, youth and family development and former House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, Hon Adejoke Adekanmbi Akinseye (AAA), on Friday inaugurated a vocational training and job centre in the memory of her late father, Chief Aderoju Ayoade Adekanmbi.
Late Chief Aderoju Ayoade Adekanmbi was Ashipa Maiyegun of Ibadan land (1978-1989).
According to Hon Adejoke, the centre consist of various workshops workshops equipped with modern training facilities.
She stressed that the vocational training centre has international accreditation whereby anyone who enrols at the centre can be employed overseas.
She noted that students from secondary school will be engaged during the holiday period to gain skills that will help them to work during holiday time and therefore save money towards their further education
Also she said there are plans to turn the youth into entrepreneurs, as soon as they complete their education, they will start a business instead of waiting for unavailable white collar jobs, they will utilize skills acquired from our centre to become engaged and contribute to the economic growth of our state and our nation.
The training centre is expected to provide jobs for young people locally, nationally and internationally.
The Vocational Training Centre will focus on
1. Digital / ICT
2. fashion
3. Cosmetology & hair do
4. Agric ( crop production and animal husbandry)
5. Catering/ Bakery
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Hon Adejoke , thank the amiable Governor for his dedication in providing a good welfare system for the people of Oyo State, she said “that God has sent an angel to the people of Oyo state by giving us Governor Seyi Makinde, who has worked tirelessly by improving infrastructure , ensuring people are well catered for during the hardship that has hit the Nation and providing succor on transportation and many more, she prayed that God will continue to bless our Governor with good health and long life.
Also she stated that the centre was constructed to promote skill development, create job opportunities, and empower residents of Oyo State and more importantly to compliment state government vision in tackling unemployment and poverty alleviation.
“The increasing number of youth unemployment in Oyo State and particularly youth from Ibadan is a matter of great concern to all of us.
“More so, the number of dropouts from our schools is also a great concern. If nothing is done to address this serious challenge of unemployment, the nation is at risk of facing another crisis.”
“To address these challenges in the state, to assist the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, I decided to construct and equip this vocational training and job creation centre in the state.
“This is to train our youth and women so that they can earn their means of livelihood by themselves.”
The event was well attended and present at the opening are Prelate Emeritus, His eminence Dr Sunday Ola Makinde , Pastor Mrs Folu Adeboye represented, Bishop Adekoya, the Bishop of Methodist Elekuro Cathedral, Bishop Ademola Moradeyo, Bishop of Methodist Ogbomosho, Reverend from the Methodist Cathedral , Baba Saka Balogun, Chairman Elders Council, Representative of Mama Mutiat Ladoja, leaders and members of PDP , commissioner of education represented, Head of service rep, President of Ibadan Progressive Union, (IPU) Engr Alli and IPU members, Chief Lana, Chief Alayande, Rotary club Agodi, Inner wheel club of Oluyole, Bodija and Agodi, G 18 Ladies and great Politicians.
Whilst giving the vote of thanks, the husband of the host, Pastor, Barrister Akinseye thanked the governor of Oyo state, Engr Seyi Makinde for the good work he is doing in the State , he thanked everyone who attended the opening ceremony and pray for safe journey back to their various destination.
