In the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, the Member representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 at the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development, Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, embarked on a series of strategic courtesy visits across key communities and party leaders within and around the constituency on Friday and Saturday.
The visits formed part of her continuous engagement with community stakeholders, religious institutions, and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North, while also sharing the spirit of compassion, charity, and unity which the Ramadan season represents.
Hon. Adeniyi-Olajide was accompanied by a strong delegation comprising the Special Assistant to the Governor on Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Julian Nwachukwu; the PDP Women Leader in Ibadan North Local Government, Mrs. Adebola Babalola; the Special Assistant on Political Matters to Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, Dr. Kunle Awotiku; PDP Chairmen of Ward 1 to Ward 6 in Ibadan North Local Government; PDP Women Leaders of Ward 1 to Ward 6; members of the APEX Team; and members of the Media Team.
DAY ONE: VISITS TO SABO COMMUNITY AND IFTAR WITH THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR
The first leg of the visit took place in the Sabo axis of Ibadan, where the entourage paid courtesy visits to notable personalities and institutions within the Hausa community. The team was received and guided by PDP Local Government Exco member from Ward 6, Dr. Salisu Mikailu, who facilitated introductions.
The delegation first visited Muhammad Dikko Shuaibu, the newly installed Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland. The visit, intended to convey Ramadan goodwill, coincidentally aligned with the day of the monarch’s wedding ceremony, adding a joyful dimension to the engagement.
Thereafter, the entourage proceeded to the Zawiya Qamisiyya Movement Islamic Institute, led by Mallam Kabiru Kaseem, where the lawmaker presented gifts and made financial donations in support of the institute’s religious and educational activities.
The third stop was at Makaranta Mallama Talatu, Sabo Ibadan, an institution run by Mallama Talatu Khamiss, where women and children receive Islamic education and vocational training. Hon. Comforter extended her support to the school through donations aimed at encouraging learning and skills development among women and young people.
Later in the evening, the delegation proceeded to the residence of the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Barr. Adebayo Adeleke Lawal, where they joined the Deputy Governor for a special Iftar session.
Interestingly, representatives of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) from Abuja were also present at the gathering, having been led to the residence by the Secretary of the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency. During the meeting, discussions and reflections were made on previous emergency situations that required swift collaboration and intervention by the Deputy Governor, NEMA, and Honourable Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide.
The Deputy Governor accorded Hon. Comforter and her team a WARM, TOP-NOTCH AND GENEROUS RECEPTION, creating an atmosphere of unity, reflection, and fellowship consistent with the spirit of Ramadan.
DAY TWO: RAMADAN LECTURE AND VISITS TO PARTY LEADERS
On the second day, Hon. Adeniyi-Olajide and her team attended the SANMORI DATIEMO Ramadan Lecture held at Bodija Isopako. The movement is under the patronage of the foremost leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ibadan North, Ismaila Ashipa.
Following the lecture, the entourage paid an official courtesy visit to the residence of Alhaji Ismaila Ashipa at Yemetu Alawada, where discussions centered on party unity, community development, and strengthening grassroots engagement within Ibadan North.
Later that evening, the delegation visited the residence of Kazim Adeyinka Adeniyi, popularly known as BIBIRE, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde. The gathering provided another opportunity for a special Iftar and moments of fellowship among party leaders and stakeholders.
Speaking on the significance of the visits, Hon. Adeniyi-Olajide emphasized that Ramadan represents compassion, unity, and service to humanity. She noted that engaging with community leaders, party stakeholders, and grassroots institutions during the sacred period further strengthens the bond between leadership and the people.
The lawmaker added that such engagements remain vital in fostering mutual understanding, strengthening political cohesion within the party, and ensuring that the voices and welfare of constituents remain at the forefront of governance.
The two-day engagements further endeared the lawmaker to leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ibadan North, while also providing an opportunity to connect more closely with the diverse communities within Ibadan North Constituency 1.
