In a bid to promote healthy environment, the caretaker chairman of Omi-Apata Local Council Development Area Hon Sheriff Adeojo has flagged off clearing of refuse along the roads, streams and drainage across the council area.
Hon Sheriff Adeojo during the flag-off tagged ” Operation Keep Omi-Apata LCDA Clean” charged residents and traders to stop illegal dumping of refuse in order to prevent sickness and diseases.
Speaking further the council boss said ” I want to appeal to all residents and traders in Omi-Apata LCDA to promote healthy living by improving on their personal hygiene and keeping their environment clean. They should always patronise refuse contractors for proper refuse disposal.
Hon Sheriff Adeojo also admonished them to always comply with environmental sanitation laws.
In their remarks, the Supervisor for Health and Environment Hon Funmilayo Adelolu and the Director of Environmental Health Services Mr. Olusegun Adegoke warned residents against indiscriminate refuse dumping.
Mrs Tawakalitu Adekunle who represented Iyaloja Omi-Adio pledged the support and cooperation of traders to the government in order to keep Omi-Apata LCDA clean.
The clearing exercise which will be twice a month took off from the council secretariat to Omi-Adio- Bovas filling station area and it is expected to cover all the areas in Omi-Apata LCDA.
The chairman was accompanied by the Secretary to the Local Government Hon Olumuyiwa Busari, caretaker members, the Acting Head of Local Government Administration Mr Amusat Busari, Heads of Departments and a host of others.
