Hon Wole Akinleye Issues Stern Warnings to Illegal Miners 

 

The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon Akinwole Akinleye has issued stern warning to illegal miners and others.

In a press statement made available to the public through his chief media aide, Ogundipe Miracle, Hon Akinwole Akinleye emphasized the necessity of miners and other related workers to obtain the necessary consent letters and community development agreements before commencing operations.

“ Akinyele Local Government is a land blessed with various mineral resources, it is pertinent to inform everyone that we take responsibility for every challenges and opportunities in the mining sector in our communities. While we understand the importance of harnessing the state’s mineral resources for the benefit of the citizens, we must ensure that operations in this sector does not have adverse effects on the security of lives and properties which is our major responsibility”.

“Anyone caught carrying out any mining operations without obtaining the necessary consent letters and community development agreements will be made to face the wrath of the law. While we will not tolerate any form of illegality within our communities, we would not relent in our efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment for the good people of Akinyele Local Government.”

“Our Principal, The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has demonstrated that security is paramount to the economic expansion and the well being of the people by investing heavily on securing the state. As a grassroot Administrator, security is a major responsibility and it is expected that we live up to that responsibility by protecting our people from the hazards of mining operations and related effects it poses to the environment”.

Hon Akinwole Akinleye acknowledged the security challenges associated with mining operations and promised to work with the State Government to maintain security and protect lives and properties within the local Government.
