In a moment of celebration and honour, the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon Akinwole Akinleye, has been decorated with the prestigious Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity, emerging as the Most Outstanding Youth-Friendly Public Servant for the Year 2025.

The recognition marks yet another milestone in his steady rise as a transformational leader whose style reflects empathy, vision, and unwavering dedication to his people.

The award, presented by the Southern Youth Forum (SYF), came as part of activities marking the Forum’s 25th Year Anniversary, an event that brought together youth leaders, stakeholders, and public service icons from across the region. According to SYF, the honour was reserved for individuals whose contributions mirror the values embodied by Nelson Mandela, courage, humility, public service, humanity, and an unbroken commitment to justice and development.

Hon Akinwole Akinleye’s selection for the prestigious award did not come as a surprise to many within and beyond Akinyele Local Government. His track record of impactful leadership, entrepreneurial strength, and impeccable service delivery has set him apart in the public space.

Over the years, he has earned recognition as a disciplinarian with a compassionate heart and a public servant whose philanthropic gestures consistently touch lives at the grassroots.

The Southern Youth Forum highlighted his remarkable support for youth development, describing him as a leader who not only listens but also invests deeply in young people. From empowerment programmes to educational support, skills acquisition initiatives, and inclusive governance, Hon Akinwole Akinleye has demonstrated an uncommon passion for building a future where youths can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.

With this latest honour, Hon Akinwole Akinleye continues to cement his place as one of the most celebrated local government chairmen in Nigeria.

The Nelson Mandela Leadership Award stands as both a recognition of his past achievements and a motivation for even greater service.

As Akinyele LG progresses under his watch, many believe the award reflects not just his leadership excellence but also the hopes and aspirations of the people he proudly serves.
