In furtherance of the determination of Engineer Seyi Makinde-led administration in Oyo State to immediately commence the assessment of current measures in place to protect and promote human rights in the state. Governor Makinde has assured citizens and residents that their rights are guaranteed and protected with various legislations that have been enacted.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Bisi Ilaka welcomed the delegation of the National Human Rights Commission on behalf of the Oyo State Government. He also made it known that the administration has paid a special attention to the issue of human rights and also the issue of gender violence.
He pledged the state government’s support towards the course of ensuring everyone’s right is guaranteed and protected.
He pledged the state government’s support in ensuring that individuals can articulate and identify their rights and can also reach out for help when such is being violated. He assured the commission that it is a beginning of a wonderful relationship.
In her remark, the acting state coordinator of NHRC, Mrs Akintayo Olamide says as part of its annual celebration, members of the National Human Right Commission, Oyo State chapter decided to pay a visit to the Oyo State Governor to present a communique on the outcome of its 16 days activism to commemorate the 2020 International Human Rights day.
The event which is held annually on December 10 is themed “Elimination of violence against women and girl child.” She explained during her presentation the various activities that has been embarked on during the commission’s 16 days activism.
