The Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami, has lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering commitment to the development of the Ibadan Airport.
The airport upgrade is seen as a pivotal move towards enhancing the state’s infrastructure and economic landscape.
Salami emphasised that the ongoing renovations at Ibadan Airport are more than just physical enhancements; they represent a strategic initiative aimed at positioning Oyo State as a key player in regional aviation and commerce.
“The upgrades will not only improve operational efficiency but also boost the airport’s capacity to handle increased passenger and cargo traffic,” Salami said.
This, he added, is essential for fostering economic growth in the state.
The chieftain highlighted the potential economic benefits that come from a modernized airport.
“Improved air travel facilities can attract businesses, stimulate tourism, and create job opportunities, both directly and indirectly.”
“With a better airport, we can expect an influx of tourists eager to explore the rich cultural heritage of Oyo State, thereby enhancing local businesses and creating new jobs,” he explained.
Salami called on various stakeholders, including private sector partners and community leaders, to rally behind the state government’s efforts.
He emphasised that collaboration is key to maximizing the benefits of such infrastructural projects.
“We need a united front to ensure that these developments translate into tangible benefits for our people,” he urged.
The PDP chieftain also stressed that the airport upgrade is part of a broader vision for improving the quality of life in Oyo State.
“Enhanced connectivity through better air travel means easier access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for residents. When our people can travel more easily, it opens up a world of possibilities for them,” Salami remarked.
Looking ahead, Salami expressed optimism about the trajectory of the state under Governor Makinde’s leadership.
He noted that the airport upgrade is just one of many initiatives aimed at transforming the state into a hub for business and tourism.
“As we continue to innovate and invest in our infrastructure, I believe Oyo State will emerge as a model for development in Nigeria,” he asserted.
