Forum of Oyo state Chairmen of Commissions and Director Generals of Parastatals commiserated with victims of last Tuesday’s explosion at Dejo Oyelese Close, Adeyi Avenue, Bodija, Ibadan.
The forum also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his prompt response and the interventions of the Oyo state government in ensuring that victims received prompt medical attention, temporary accommodation and other measures.
Rising from their meeting at the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) building, on Wednesday, in Ibadan, the forum commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the speed of his response to the unfortunate incident and timely updates.
In a statement jointly signed by the chairman of the forum, Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe and secretary, Rt Hon Musah Abdulwasi, PhD, the forum hailed Governor Makinde for compiling the explosion report and for submitting it to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
The forum urged the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal government and other agencies to come to the aid of victims of the explosion.
They also called on international organizations and donors to complement the Oyo state government’s efforts in the wake of the tragedy.
The statement read in part: “Rising from our meeting today Tuesday 23rd of January 2024, we want to use this opportunity to commiserate with the victims of the last Tuesday’s explosion at Dejo Oyelese Close, Adeyi Avenue, Bodija, Ibadan.
“We must commend the prompt response of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde to the explosion and also the interventions of the Oyo state government in ensuring that victims received prompt medical attention, provision of temporary accommodations and other measures.
“His Excellency didn’t stop at that, he has been providing update on the issue. He was in Abuja yesterday to present a report of the explosion to President Bola Tinubu. These moves and actions are highly commendable.
“We want to use this opportunity to call on the Federal government, international organization, donors and others to complement the efforts of the Oyo state government, under the leadership of Engineer Seyi Makinde in providing succor to the victims.”
