Traditional rulers in Oyo State on Tuesday paid a visit to Governor Seyi Makinde and commiserated with him over the Jan. 16 explosion that occured in Ibadan.
Addressing newsmen shortly after meeting with the governor, Oba Francis Alao, Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, said the traditional rulers under the umbrella body of the Oyo State Council of Obas, commended the governor for been proactive over the unfortunate incident.
He noted that effort of the governor in addressing the emergency situation when the explosion occured was quite impressive.
He said all members of the council have pledged their support to the governor and promised to work with the state government, in the area of intelligence gathering in their respective domains toward curbing illegal mining and other criminality.
Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Laoye; Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola and Okere of Saki, Oba Oyeniyi Olabisi were among the traditional rulers that visited the governor.
Others included Oba Olalekan Balogun, Olubadan of Ibadan land who was represented by Oba Tajudeen Abimbola; Iba Kisi of Kishi, Oba Aweda Lawal and Onilala of Lanlate, Oba Sunday Oladejo.
