Owolabi Adeshina, a prominent figure in Ibadan’s political landscape, has expressed an overwhelming support for Jubril Dotun Sanusi’s decision to withdraw from the race for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Adeshina emphasised that Sanusi’s choice reflects a commitment to the greater good of the community, prioritizing unity and stability over individual ambition.
Adeshina noted that Sanusi’s decision allows for a renewed focus on addressing pressing issues facing the region, such as infrastructure development, education, and healthcare.
“By stepping back, Sanusi has demonstrated true leadership qualities,” Adeshina stated.
The Ibadan Solidarity group, which includes various stakeholders from different sectors, echoed Adeshina’s sentiments, praising Sanusi for his selflessness and dedication to public service.
They urged other political figures to follow his example and work towards fostering a more cohesive political environment.
Sanusi, who has been a vocal advocate for youth empowerment and local governance reforms, has not ruled out future political engagements but emphasised that his current focus is on supporting initiatives that will benefit the people of Ibadan and Oyo State as a whole.
The announcement has sparked discussions among political analysts and community leaders, many of whom see it as a pivotal moment in the state’s political narrative, potentially paving the way for new leadership dynamics in the upcoming elections.
