Ibarapakan Congratulates New Asingangan, Says Peaceful Selection a Display of Cohesion in Igangan

Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, has congratulated the sons and daughters of Igangan, including the Igangan traditional-in-council, on the coronation of HRM Oba Rafiu Olaniyi Adeniyi Ariwoola as the new Asingangan of Igangan Land.

According to the lawmaker, the selection of the new Asingangan without rancor and bitterness following the demise of HRM Oba Abdul-Azeez Adeoye, the erstwhile monarch of the community, who joined his ancestors on December 21, 2021, demonstrates the kind of harmony and community cohesion that exist among the people of Igangan.

“The peaceful transition of power in Igangan after the death of the previous monarch is a testament to the strength of community bonds and this gesture will continue to serve as a model for future generations. This cooperation and unity of purpose, without mincing words, will usher in a bright future for Igangan community and other communities in Yoruba Land and it is also a reminder that community strength comes from oneness. You have sent a strong message to people of all backgrounds through your conduct that we are stronger when we come together in peace and understanding,” he said.

Ibarapakan stated that the new Igangan monarch has demonstrated undaunted commitment to not only the Igangan but also the Ibarapa cause, expressing confidence in the new traditional ruler’s leadership abilities to move the needle from its current position.

The lawmaker also beseeched Oba Adeniyi Ariwoola to build on the legacy of the past monarchs of the community to inoculate a formidable region towards achieving a common and unified goal.

“The history of unity among traditional rulers in Ibarapa Land is a long and proud one. For generations, the various rulers have worked together to advance the interests of the region and its people. From defending the region against invaders to promoting economic development, the traditional rulers have always put the needs of the people first. This unity has been a source of strength and resilience, allowing our region to overcome many challenges and thrive. It is a source of pride for us as indigenes of this geopolitical zone and for those who live in Ibarapa Land. I so believe the new king in our beloved region will maintain and build on this age-long relationship,” the lawmaker emphasised.

In his remarks, Hon. Adepoju appreciated the entire residents of Igangan Community for remaining law-abiding prior to and during the selection of a new king despite the vacuum left behind as a result of the death of the former traditional ruler, assuring the community and the newly installed king of his all-round support at all times.

He stressed that the reign of the new monarch would bring Igangan exceptional human, infrastructure and economic growth.

He reiterated that the new king is imbued with a vision and drive to make a real difference, which, according to him, has been noticeable, audible and visible in his activities and dealings since his confirmation barely two months ago. He said the monarch has a deep understanding of the needs and challenges of the community, adding that his passion, experience and good educational background are indications that the Igangan community is in safe hands.

The lawmaker also commended His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his unparalleled altruism in expediting the presentation of staff of office to the new king. He described the gesture on the part of Governor Makinde as one made out of sheer love and respect for the people of the region and the Asingangan stool in particular.

The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Federal Character, however, prayed for continued peace and prosperity in Igangan, Ibarapa and Oyo State as a whole.
