IBEDC Reassures Lalupon, Ejioku, Erumu Communities Amid Power Supply Challenges

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), has revealed plans to resolve the ongoing power supply challenges in Lalupon, Oyo State, through the construction of a 33kV substation, funded by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

IBEDC also outlined the key components of the project and the challenges it has faced, including funding constraints and right of way issues.

The company, however, expressed its deep concern about the situation and has reassured customers that every effort is being made to expedite the project’s completion and restore full power supply.

“As a customer-centric company, we are deeply concerned about the supply situation in Lalupon and are committed to resolving these issues,” said IBEDC management.

In addition to the substation project, IBEDC also outlined a series of “quick wins” and “medium-term” solutions to provide temporary relief for affected customers while the project is underway.

These measures, according to the power company, include the use of isolators on the existing network and the cascading of load between feeders.

The company also emphasised its commitment to engaging with the community and has held numerous meetings with local leaders to explain the situation and explore solutions.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by these challenges and are using this medium to assure our customers that every effort is being made to expedite the completion of the 33kV substation project and restore full power supply,” the IBEDC management concluded.

Recalls that Residents from Olodo to Iyana Offa in the state on Monday, took to the streets to protest against the continuous disconnection by the IBEDC.
