IREWOLE LG FLAGS OFF FREE DISTRIBUTION OF INSECTICIDE TREATED NET

As part of the State of Osun government efforts in seeing to the state being malaria free, Irewole local government under the chairmanship of Honourable Remi Abass, flags off free distribution of insecticide treated net for the year 2020.

According to WHO, in the year 2018, Nigeria is among the six countries that accounted for more than half of malaria cases worldwide which shows its endemic to Nigeria.

In a low key event held at the local government secretariat, the chairman appreciated the federal and state government commitment to ensure Nigeria is malaria free while he lauded the efforts of the international partners, WHO, CRS, SFH, CHEMONICS and others in achieving the feat.

He revealed that the mosquito nets have been made available for every household in the local government as he passionately appeal to everyone to cooperate with the net distribution officials.

The event had a short drama presentation depicting how the net can be hang in the house.

Also speaking at the event, Hon. Mrs Dele Mary Adeboye, wife of the Irewole North East LCDA chairman, who is the Net advocate for Irewole local government, expressed her concern for the many lives that have been lost to malaria infection in the past as malaria is still the cause of death of many pregnant women and children in Irewole local government.

However, she revealed her excitement with the provision of net for every household in the local government as she attest to the safety and effectiveness of the nets in preventing malaria thus preventing malaria infection.

She urged everyone to play a part to achieve a malaria free State of Osun.

The event had in attendance Irewole North East LCDA chairman, Honourable Adeboye Opeyemi, all political heads, Chief Imam, Alhaji Olorunose, CAN Chairman, Reverend Shittu, Head of local government departments, WHO, CRS, SFH, CHEMONICS and The Net Campaign Team.
