    Iwajowa LG Boss, Oyewumi Flags-off GSM Estate, Commissions Projects

    The Chairman of Iwajowa local government area of Oyo state, Honourable Oyewumi Muritala, on Wednesday marked 6 months in office with the flag off of Governor Seyi Makinde’s restoration estate and commissioning of iconic projects in the local government area.

    The event also had the distribution of cash empowerment to the aged and widow by the First Lady of Iwajowa local government, Aminat Moromoke Oyewumi.

    The project commissioned were a block of 3 classrooms with an office at Community Grammar School, Igannna (CSDA project), motorised borehole at Olorunda Market, Elekokan, Amotekun office and presentation of two brand new motorcycles for the security outfit at Iwere-Ile, motorised borehole facilitated at Olopele village, Idiko-Ago (CSDA project) and a motorised borehole at Samo, Ijio.

    Others included flag-Off of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Restoration Estate, Iganna, distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers, cash Empowerment to the aged and widows and distribution of set of bricklaying tools to bricklayers.

    While speaking, Muritala Oyewumi listed some of the things his administration has done in the last 6 months adding that he focused his attention on achieving goals which are inextricably linked with Governor Seyi Makinde’s second term agenda of Sustainable Development.

    He said the leadership of the local government has deployed multi-sectorial strategies and actions that prioritize Agricultural Development, Estate Development, Environmental Management, Education for all, Women and Youth Empowerment, Infrastructural Maintenance, Security, and other socio-economic agenda for positive advancements.

    His words: “As we celebrate this great day, I make bold to say that our activities in all the above aspects have touched lives and helped bring governance closer to the people and in the process connect the dots of growth and development between the towns and rural communities.

    “In the last six months, we have achieved the under-listed feats: Backfilling of Box Culvert along Ofeegun- Elekokan, Iganna; Dredging of Agbua River along Ofeegun Village, Iganna; Full Sponsorship of two (2) indigenes of Iwajowa Local Government to undergo 3 years Diploma Programme in Environmental Health Technology and Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW) at Alolade Oyinlola College of Health Sciences and Information Technology, Okuku Dam Road, Okuku, Osun State for year 2024/2025 Academic Session; Full Sponsorship of Six (6) indigenes of Iwajowa Local Government to undergo various degree programmes at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, Oyo State for year 2024/2025 Academic Session; Purchased of Three (3) laptop computers and a printer for ease of administrative activities in the Local Government;

    “Acquisition of 27.38 Hectares (67.66 Acres) of land at Elekokan Road, Iganna from Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Oyo State for Estate Development.”

    He appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde, Honourable Adeniyi Farinto, Honorable Hakeem Adedibu, Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency, PDP stakeholders, Royal Fathers, Security Operatives and others whose supports keep orchestrating his attainment of more achievements.

    Also speaking, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo pledged Governor Seyi Makinde’s continued support for the local government and well-being of the traditional rulers.

    He promised to see to the facelift of the local government secretariat as requested so as to make it more aesthetic, attractive and decent in its outlook.

    He commended the chairman for what he was able to achieve within six months of his assumption of office, tasked to make the attained feats, tips of iceberg compared to what will be achieved in the subsequent time.

    Hon. Adeniyi Farinto, a former Chairman of Iwajowa Local Government and former Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly urged the good people of Iwajowa Local Government to continue to support Governor Seyi Makinde in his struggle and readiness to make Oyo state attain greater heights.

    While commending the chairman over his achievement, he conferred the chieftaincy title of ‘ Fiwagboye 1 of Iwajowa Local Government on him, having affirmed his humility, loyalty and readiness to serve.

    The event had in attendance the Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo; former Commissioner for Budget & Economic Planning, Honourable Adeniyi Farinto; Chairman, Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Oyo State, Hon. Abideen Adeaga; Hon Ayobami Ojo, Chief Michael Dokun Adegbite some LG Chairmen in Oke-Ogun, Iwajowa LG Traditional Council of Obas and Chiefs, PDP stakeholders, party members, Iwajowa LG political functionaries, career officers and host of others.
