Former NPFL goal king and Espérance of Tunisia striker Junior Lokosa says he will have to give his best for him to be called up again into the Super Eagles.
The 2018 NPFL top scorer disclosed this during a live telephone interview with Damilola Amuda (Goal Getter) on Petals Sports, on Petals 102.3 FM Ibadan.
Lokosa made his international debut for the Super Eagles in May 2018 in a friendly against DR Congo after his impressive performance with Kano Pillars.
Lokosa was named in the 30-man
provisional squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, but did not make the final 23 man squad.
“I have to do 120 percent, if I was doing 100 or 110 before, now I have to do 120 or 130 percent. Because there are alot of strikers now in the Super Eagles.” Lokosa said this when he was asked about his plans to be called up to the national team again.
“You have to give your best so that you can have the call up. Because you have to do extra.”
The former Kano Pillars striker also expressed his disappointment on the travelling arrangement of teams in NPFL.
He said, ” The maximum you can go via bus in Tunisia is 2 or 3 hours. But in Nigeria, you have teams going 19 hours on the road.”
On why he hasn’t been able to replicate the form he had while playing for Kano Pillars since arriving in Tunisia, Lokosa disclosed that injury has hampered his development this season, but promise to be back stronger.
“After we won the CAF Champions League and the League, two games before the end of last season, I sustained an injury. So I’m just recovering.”
” And it’s good Anthony Okpotu is leading the scores chat in the League. It’s my happiness, we normally talk, before the season started, we talked. We try to motivate ourselves. And I’m happy for him.
Junior Lokosa joined Espérance in January 2019, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.
