The 2023 House of Assembly candidate on the platform of Action Peoples Party (APP), Hon Sulaimon Korede Olaniyan who is politically known as Omo Iya Eleran, on Wednesday dumped his former and announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection to the leading opposition party in Oyo State was contained in a letter written to Ibadan North local government APC Chairman ward executives, noted that the party remains the only viable platform where he could contribute to the development of Oyo State and Nigeria.
While pledging to work diligently for the success of the party, Hon Sulaimon promised to uphold the party’s principle and values. He called for unity and Inclusivity in his new party and urged the existing members to extend hands of friendship to his supporters.
“I Honourable Sulaimon Korede Olaniyan, from ward 1, Ibadan North local government, hereby notify you of my decision to decamp from Action Peoples Party to the All progressive Congress (APC) today 18th December, 2024.
“After I carefully considered and reflected on the present situation of various issues, I have come to realize my value, beliefs and vision for oyo state and Nigeria are better aligned with APC .
“I contested on the platform of APC in the 2023 general election for the position of State Honourable, I believe this is the right platform for me to contribute to the development of my state and nation at large.
“I hereby seek the support of the party and Chairman of Ibadan North, all the excos to please embrace me and my supporters, this will make our party stronger going into 2027 general elections.
“Thanks for accepting me and my supporters into APC, I’m excited about this new chapter in my political journey and pledge to work tirelessly to uphold the party’s principle and value.”
