Oyo State Government on Thursday launches the State Strategic Health Development Plan and annual operation plan 2021 with support from the Global Fund, Management Science for Health, Health System Consult Limited and Saving One Million Lives Program held at Alice Palace, Ibadan.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Olubamiwo Adeosun said over the last one year, the state has instituted a number of policies and initiatives to reform and reinvigorate the health sector.
She added that the state is committed to public private partnership in delivering essential health services to the entire populace. She noted that approval has been given for the partnership with private pharmaceutical companies for the supply of drugs to all health facilities in the state. Her words: “This is the time for our nation to wake up to the reality that health is too important to be left in the hands of government alone. We must all be involved.”
“The Goverment at all levels , the private sector , corporate Nigeria, individuals and others must join hands together and ensure that there is significant improvement in health status of every Nigerian.”
“I therefore implore all our partners to support the state in implementing the annual operation plan derived from the Strategic Plan in a coordinated and efficient manner.”
In his remarks, the Director,Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Health, Dr Abbas Gbolahan, says the State Strategic Health Development Plan is a document geared towards addressing various health challenges and improve health care services in the state.
Dr Gbolahan noted that the mission is to improve the health status and socio-economic advancement of individuals and families in the state using preventive measures. He stressed that the aim is also to deliver efficient, effective, affordable and accessible health care delivery.
