Akinyele local government caretaker chairman, Hon. Taoreed Adedigba Jimoh on Thursday along with the caretaker committee members and principal officers of the local government had a joint security meeting at the moniya Award Hall with community Representatives, religious leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the local government area on ways to stop incessant killings in the local government.
The Chairman spoke about the records of crimes that have happened in the local government and explained various measures that have been taking to stop these criminal acts. He spoke on how disturbed the Oyo state governor Eng. Seyi Makinde has been about all these incidents and He has instructed Him to use all within His power to find lasting solution that will stop these act. He further said the governor has a lot of developmental plans for Akinyele local government and these development cannot take place in an environment faced with security challenges like this because investors would be driven away if they feel unsafe. According to the Chairman, with the situation of things now, there is the need to call on community leaders, religious leaders and our traditional rulers to work with the government and the security agencies to fish out perpetrators of these crimes. He therefore asked for their suggestions on ways to fight the battle together so that we can all live in peace and suggestions are also welcome in private.
Some of the people who participated in the meeting submitted a lot of suggestions which the chairman promised to make use of while communities, religious leaders and traditional rulers were also assigned different task to do in their various places.
The meeting had in attendance the HLGA Akinyele local government, members of the caretaker committee, other principal officers of the local government, religious leaders, traditional rulers, Representatives of park managers, community representatives amongst others.
The programme ended with a long prayer session from the three main religious leaders for God’s intervention and peace in Akinyele local government.
