Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has assured students, staff, management and residents of Oyo State that adequate fund had been earmarked for the smooth running of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso in the 2021 budget which is expected to be presented to the State House of Assembly next week.
Makinde stated this on Fresh FM ‘Political Circuit’ anchored by Mayor Isaac Brown.
The Governor expressed delight at the manner with which the protracted and running battle between Osun and Oyo on the issue of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology was resolved amicably.
Makinde thanked his Osun State counterpart, Governor Gboyega Oyetola for the peaceful resolution of the age-long ownership tussle.
Makinde declared that the students and staff of the institution are the victors. He therefore warned that going forward, there ceased to be “Oyo Forum”, “Osun Forum” but now it is ‘LAUTEC Forum”
Makinde admitted that the negotiation was transparent adding that international consultant and Nigeria University Commission (NUC) were involved in the process. He noted that the assets belonging to the institution were shared between Oyo and Osun.
The Governor stressed that the latest development will further boost economy of Ogbomoso. He promised to pay a visit to the school very soon with the view to meeting with the stakeholders to chart a new path for the school. Makinde said he isn’t after looking at internal ranking for the school but African and International.
