    Makinde, Adeleke, Others Attend Ibarapakan Father’s Burial

    The Ibarapa region of Oyo State was abuzz as the ancient city of Igbo-Ora received dignitaries from home and abroad, who joined the family of the late Asiwaju of Igboora, Chief Dr. Amos Ademola Adepoju, to pay their last respects on Saturday.

    The funeral which commenced with a service of songs/night of tribute for the late scholar and community leader, held at the Ibadan residence of the deceased on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, where eminent individuals, including the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Ademola Adeleke, was in attendance.

    On Friday, November 7, 2025, the remains of the former Rector of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, were escorted from Ibadan to Igboora, the ancestral home of the late Adepoju, by Gov. Ademola Adeleke and other prominent personalities in Nigeria, ahead of the wake-keep service, which took place at the Igboora Community Town Hall, Igboora on Friday, November 7, 2025.

    The wake-keep service was attended by influential individuals from all strata of governance, civil service, politics, traditional and religious institutions.

    Prominent among the individuals who attended the wake-keep service in Igboora were business magnate, Deji Adeleke (Davido’s father), Sen. Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State, serving members of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, Chief of Staff to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Kaseem Akinleye, Mrs. Dupe Sanni, and all political functionaries from Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Local Government Areas of Oyo State.

    At the funeral service of Chief Adepoju, which took place at Methodist Cathedral, Oke Agogo, Igboora, Oyo State, Gov. Adeleke stated that the late Adepoju’s service to humanity transcended borders. He narrated how he personally lost a father figure in Chief Adepoju, whom he described himself as his first son. He promised that the legacy of the late Asiwaju of Igboora would continue to comfort him and all the children he left behind.

    In a grand but historic gesture towards the celebration of the life of a man who touched countless lives during his impactful 89 years of existence, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Barr. Bayo Lawal, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, Hon. Bisi Ilaka, Hon. Shina Peller, Shina Peter, many House of Representatives members, including Hon. Najeemdeen Abayomi Oyedeji O’Shine, Hon. Akin Alabi, Hon.  Abass Agboworin, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI), numerous cabinet members of the Oyo and Osun States government, joined the family of the late Adepoju in Igboora to celebrate the burial ceremony of their late father.

    At the thanksgiving service held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Methodist Cathedral, Oke Agogo, Igboora, all political functionaries were led to the house of the Lord, by Gov. Ademola Adeleke, where the clerics congratulated the family on the success of their father’s burial and equally prayed for the dignitaries for the generous donations extended to the church.

    Pa Amos Ademola Adepoju is survived by his wife, amazing children and grandchildren.
