…Makinde a detribalized Leader – Akeem Azeez
Oyo state Governor, HIs Excellency Seyi Makinde on Saturday rolled out 40 awards to prominent Muslim Leaders and Islamic Organizations across the state at the annual Omituntun Ramadan which marked the 10th anniversary.
The list which includes Deputy Governor, Barr Bayo AbdulRaheem Lawal, Ambassador Taofiq Arapaja, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Daud Makanjuola Akinola, Prof Dawud Noibi, Prof KK Oloso, Prof Aderinoye, ace broadcaster Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat and Popular Islamic Preacher, Sheik Taofeek Akewugbagold among others.
The guest Lecturer, Sheik Muyideen Salmonu , The Chief Imam of Offa admonished Muslims to have attitude of gratitude. He made several references to the Quran to back is lecture.
They were all honoured for their commitment to peace and engendering religious harmony among various religion adherents in the state.
Others who also received the awards include the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik AbdulGaniy Agbotomokekere, Chief Imam of Ogbomosholand , Dr Taliat Ayilara, Chief Imam of Iseyin, Sheik Akeem Olajori, and Sheik Fasasi of Igangan.
Governor Makinde also honoured some of the Muslim Leaders who have passed away with post humous awards such as, immediate past Chief Imam of Ibadan, Sheik Haruna Suara Busari, Engr Lere Adigun, former Chief Imam of Tede, Sheikh Ahmada Tijani Adedigba and Immediate past Babasale Musulumi of Ibadan Land, Alhaji Lateef Oyelade.
Governor Seyi Makinde in his remarks, promised to donate a bus at Ramadan lecture every year and thanked the awardees for contributing to the peace and Progress of the state.
In his goodwill message, Chairman Organizing Committee of annual Omituntun Ramadan Lecture, Alhaji Akeem Azeez eulogized his leader, Governor Seyi Makinde describing him as a detribalized and God-fearing leader who accommodates everybody, irrespective of religious differences.
