Oyo State development plan 2021-2041 is key to transform the economy of the state and address developmental challenges in all aspects of the economy within the stipulated timeframe.
The Governor stated this during the official inauguration of the steering committee for Oyo State Development Plan (2021-2041)held at the Exco Chamber, Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
The Governor who is the Chairman of the Committee said despite no long term developmental plan for the state,his administration has been working on Road Map to accelerated development 2019 to 2023 coupled with four pillars the Government is resting on.
The Governor stressed that with the recently released information by Nigeria Bureau of Statistics revealed that Oyo state is not doing badly in terms of development and revenue generation despite the challenges of Covid 19 and Economic lockdown.
In his address of welcome the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Hon Adeniyi Farinto commended Governor Seyi Makinde for identifying the need for the state to have a home-grown long term plan for the state that will provide a sense of direction in government’s expenditure across the length and breadth of the state without marginalization.
According to Hon Farinto,State development planning is an aspect of transparency and motivational governance,designed to set out a clear Vision and Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time -Bound (SMART)goals for the future of the state.
In their separate remarks,the lead Consultant African Centre for Shared Development Professor Olu Ajakaye, Chairman Developmental Agenda For Western Nigerian Mr Seye Oyeleye ,Chief of Field Akure Field Office,UNICEF Tuscar Rani and others emphasized the need for Oyo state to have long term developmental plan that will look beyond the present administration.
This plan will be led by a lead consultant and enabled by the state government. The planning process will be all-inclusive and participatory with full involvement of the civil society Organisations,Non – Government Organisations, Physically-Challenged People and others.
Other members of the steering committee are the Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, SSG, Olubamiwo Adeosun, Chief of Staff, Bisi Ilaka, Head of Service, Ololade Agboola among others.
