Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, this Wednesday, paid on the spot assessment visit to communities affected by the Heavy rainfall on Tuesday which wreaked havoc in some parts of Ibadan and rendered many homeless while properties worth millions destroyed.
The governor, in the company of the officials of the state Ministry of public works, Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project, Oyo state Emergency Management Agency, visited Iwo-road, Olodo, Onipepeye, amongst other places affected by the torrential rain.
While assessing the properties affected, governor makinde harped that he has directed the local government chairman to write approval letter and assured the approval of the letter immediately.
He also said that by the time the government were able to get all the project under the Ibadan Urban Flood management Project executed the issue of flooding in the state would be dealt with.
He promised that in the next 18months there would be appreciable improvement on flood management in the state.
The downpour which turned into flash flooding on Tuesday evening destroyed community fences, public and private properties, and left many residents homeless.
