Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Friday carried out an inspection of two major ongoing projects in Ibadan North Local Government, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and inclusive governance.

The Governor, widely described as a promise keeper and a lover of sustainable infrastructure, was received by the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, who was on ground to welcome him alongside the Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, Hon. Demola Omotoso, and other government officials.

Governor Makinde’s first port of call was the Meat Complex located beside the Agric Complex in Bodija Market , a project nearing completion and being executed by the Ibadan North Local Government.

The Governor was greeted with a rousing and rowdy welcome from market men and women, including sellers of meat, pepper, vegetables, and other food items who currently trade by the roadside.

The new facility, according to the Governor, is designed to accommodate the traders and help decongest the roadside, thereby improving safety, sanitation, and orderliness in the area.

Addressing the traders, Governor Makinde assured them that the project would be completed and commissioned early next year.

He further disclosed that all affected traders would be properly enumerated through the leadership of the market associations and allocated shops free of charge, appreciating them for their patience, resilience, and continued support for his administration.

From the meat complex, the Governor proceeded to inspect the ongoing Sango Oju Irin/ sawmill Road construction, another key project being handled by the Ibadan North Local Government.

After assessing the level of work done, Governor Makinde assured residents of the community that the road would be completed and commissioned next year, stressing that his administration remains committed to improving road infrastructure across the state.

In his characteristic display of humility and street-level connection, the Governor stopped to buy roasted plantain by the roadside, engaging directly with local traders.

He gave a substantial sum of money to the plantain seller and another woman selling pepper, drawing admiration from residents who hailed his simplicity, inclusiveness, and grassroots appeal.

Governor Makinde thanked community for their unwavering support and pledged that his government would continue to deliver projects that positively impact their lives.

The inspection tour was also attended by the Governor’s ally, Otunba Seye Famojuro, further underscoring the collaborative effort toward grassroots development in Oyo State.
