Makinde Revives AANFE Under Olopoeyan Chairmanship After 20 Years in Moribund

The Chairman of Oyo State Agency for Adult and Non Formal Education ( AANFE), Hon Ayo Olowosoke Olopoeyan, has assured that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde would continue to give the State Agency the needed support to enable it achieve its mandate of providing adults without formal education the basic skills needed in reading, writing, sample mathematics and language proficiency.

Hon Olopoeyan gave the assurance at the graduation ceremony of over 2,010 students who have been trained and certified in adult education in commemoration of the International Literacy Day Celebration held on Tuesday in Ibadan.

The Chairman described adult education as an opportunity to regain the formal education they missed earlier in life said learning is a continuous process and that age should not be a barrier to acquiring basic education.

Olopoeyan further commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his visionary leadership which has helped in the resuscitation of the agency that had become moribund for twenty-years before his assumption of office in May, 2019.

He noted that the present administration has promised to continue to support literacy among the adults, however charged them them to pay rapt attention to their studies so that they can justify the government’s huge investment to give them basic education.

Some of the students lauded Governor Seyi Makinde and the Chairman, Ayo Olopoeniyan for their support by creating an enabling environment for them to succeed in their studies.

The graduation ceremony was graced by various groups, participants and eminent personalities which include, Oladejo O J. (Coordinating Director), Professor M.Momoh (Guest lectures from Department of Adult Education, University of Ibadan)
