Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde says his administration will remain committed to its promise to create opportunities for all citizens and residents in Oyo State to live meaningful and fulfilled lives.
Makinde stated this on Thursday at the flag off ceremony of the grants for rural women project by the Honourable Minister For Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq at the Western Hall, Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Makinde who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Bisi Ilaka stressed that the present administration will continue to initiate and Promote policies that will secure a brighter future for our children most especially in the education and health sectors.
He added that issues of women empowerment, protection against gender based discrimination among others will get the desired attention from this administration.
In her remarks, the Minister For Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq says the programme is aimed at uplifting the poor out of poverty.
She noted that Oyo State has received a total sum of N992, 715000 (Nine Hundred and ninety two million, seven hundred and fifteen thousand from the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer from inception till date. She added that the scheme is being expanded in the state to cater for more vulnerable.
In her welcome address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Faosat Joke Sani noted the unfailing and untiring efforts at cushioning the effects of economic hardship on the hopeless majority of the poorest and vulnerable households who have been living in abject I the midst of plenty is keenly watched and noted.
The event was attended by the Minister For Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, Minister of State for Niger-Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matter, Bayo Lawal, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede among others.
