Makinde’s Aide, Open Salawu renews scholarship of 20 indigent students in Ogbomoso

 

As part of his ongoing efforts to ensure that indigent students reach their potential, the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on Project Monitoring, Engineer Muftau Open Salawu through his foundation Open Integration of Learning (OIL) Foundation, has once again renewed the scholarship of indigent students of Ogbomosoland.

Recall that Salawu had last year offered scholarship to 20 indigent students from JSS1, who were picked from Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire Federal Constituency.

The scholarship covers from secondary to tertiary level of education.

Students, educators, community and religious leaders were present at the 7th edition of the Open Integration of Learning Foundation Life Line Scholarship award, which was held on Friday at the Destination Luxury Apartment, Starlight, Ogbomoso.

Open Salawu, who was represented by Hon. Isaac Olajide at the program, reiterated his commitment to advancing education in Ogbomoso land.

He emphasised that every child should have access to education in order to realise their potential and that education is the cornerstone upon which we build our future.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

The Waziri Jari of Nupe Kingdom, who also urged the scholarship recipients to stand out in their endeavours and be good community ambassadors, however called for the support of the management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH and Federal Polytechnic Ayede to assist the foundation in the area of admission for the beneficiaries.

In his words: “Today we all gathered here to grant the 7th scholarship to these wonderful children from our community. It is a great pleasure to do this act and to encourage many more to surpassed this gesture, it might look very little but it could go a long way in the life’s of the Beneficiaries and It has created a mentoring platform for them.

“We intend to continue this act in which we started since 2018 and it is our prayer that all of the selected 20 students will be come graduate in their choice of studies and be come useful to them self, their parents and society at large.

“So, we employ all leaders of higher institutions that are invited and those that are here today to join us in fulfilling the dream and aspiration of Intension to guide and support these 20 wonderful Son’s and daughter’s of our great Community.

“Also the Beneficiaries should see this as a Loan and challenge from the community to them, to become successful in life and be able to replicate this and more in the future, with this kind of chain support we can guarantee a better future for our Community.

“Thank you all for Coming, May Almighty God bless
us all.”

In their separate remarks, traditional rulers, clergymen, party faithful, and well-wishers at the ceremony, all commended Ipusu for his gesture to the needy.

They equally advised the beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity for their own good, noting that many may not have such privilege.

One of the beneficiaries who spoke to journalists, expressed appreciation to the Oyo Chairman of Project monitoring for coming to their aid to succeed in life.
