Special Assistant to Oyo state Governor on Youths and Sport, Hon Kazeem Bolarinwa on Saturday sensitized indigenes and residents of Ibarapa East Local Government against rape and other Gender-Based Violence.
He noted that proper awareness and information on rape and Gender-Based Violence were part of key steps to addressing the monster currently plaguing the state and called for extra support from stakeholders to tackle.
Bolarinwa added that the sensitisation will being new reorientation in the lives of rapists whom he noted live among their victims and thus help to reduce the rising trend.
On his part, Caretaker Chairman Ibarapa East Local Government, Hon Olugbenga Obalowo said the essence of this advocacy which will be taken to the rural areas, is to equip the people with strategic information on the dangers of rape, what to do when sexually molested, as well as ways to seek legal redress.
The sensitisation was done in conjunction with
Alliance Against Teenage Pregnancy, Flawless Female Network, POOM foundation, The Roundtable Meetings and Ganiyu Oladele Foundation , WAI (War against indiscipline), Man ‘O War, President of Eruwa Youth Movement, Delegates of National Orientation Agency(NOA).
