Makinde’s Ally, Rita Orji, Sympathizes With Oyo Govt, Victims of Ibadan Funfair Stampede

 

Prominent political figure and ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Rita Orji, has extended her heartfelt condolences to the Oyo State Government and the victims of the unfortunate stampede that occurred during a funfair event in Ibadan.

The tragic incident, which happened at a popular recreational center in the state capital, led to injuries and widespread panic among attendees. Initial reports indicate that the stampede occurred due to a surge of the crowd, leaving many struggling to escape the chaos.

In a statement released on Saturday, Hon. Orji expressed her deep sorrow over the incident, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing safety at public gatherings. She conveyed her sympathy to the families of those affected and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

“I am deeply saddened by the stampede that occurred at the funfair in Ibadan, leaving several individuals injured and traumatized. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the entire Oyo State. I also extend my solidarity to Governor Seyi Makinde and his administration during this challenging time,” she said.

The former House of Representatives member opined that from the onset of Governor Seti Makinde’s administration, men, women , mortals and celestials can attest to his love for children and protection of the citizens as the cardinal point of his sterling performance since 2019.

The Oyo State Government has since pledged to investigate the incident thoroughly and implement stricter regulations for public events. Meanwhile, the injured victims are receiving medical attention at various healthcare facilities in Ibadan.

The incident has drawn widespread attention, with calls for collective efforts to improve safety standards and protect lives during public engagements.
