Makinde’s Superb Performance Inspires Elias Adeojo to Eye 2027 Governorship

Elias Adeojo, Chairman of the Oyo State Water Corporation, has revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde’s outstanding performance has inspired him to consider the 2027 governorship race.

Adeojo, in his opinion, said that the encouragement from citizens, political associates, and family members strengthened his resolve to serve and build upon the developmental strides achieved under the current administration.

“Governor Makinde’s achievements in revitalising our institutions and improving service delivery are remarkable.“

“They inspire me to contribute to sustaining this momentum and expanding opportunities for our people,” he noted.

The remarks came amid growing speculation within political circles about Adeojo as a potential candidate capable of carrying forward the widely acclaimed Omituntun 3.0 agenda.

Adejo has drawn attention for his transformation of the Oyo State Water Corporation. When he assumed leadership, the agency was seen as one of the state’s most challenged institutions, plagued by ageing infrastructure and inconsistent service.

Through targeted reforms, treatment facilities were rehabilitated, distribution networks revived, and critical infrastructure upgraded.

Residents across several communities have reported improved water supply, a development many describe as symbolic of the revival of a functioning public institution.

Observers within government circles have cited the corporation’s turnaround as a practical reflection of the people-focused governance principles associated with Makinde’s administration.

Supporters argue that Adeojo’s achievements demonstrate the leadership capacity required for higher responsibilities.

His political heritage adds further weight to these conversations. Coming from the respected Adeojo family, a household name in Oyo State politics, he belongs to a lineage that has produced influential figures shaping the state’s political landscape over the years.

Although he has yet to formally declare political ambitions beyond his current role, Adeojo acknowledged that Governor Makinde’s call for aspirants to openly express interest in sustaining the state’s developmental vision has intensified speculation about his potential emergence in higher office.

“The governor’s invitation opens the door for capable figures within his administration to step forward. My focus remains on consolidating the gains at the Water Corporation, but I recognise that the time may come to test my leadership on a broader stage,” he said in his statement.

Adejoo emphasised continuity and responsible governance: “Inspired by our state’s progress and encouraged by citizens’ support, I am committed to consolidating the present administration’s achievements while expanding opportunities in infrastructure, water resources, education, agriculture, youth empowerment, and economic development. I believe in continuity, stability, and people-focused leadership.“

“I reiterate my respect and appreciation for Governor Seyi Makinde and remain committed to responsible governance.“

“Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous state with opportunities for our youth, strengthened institutions, and an improved quality of life for all citizens.“

“I seek your support, guidance, and prayers as we embark on this journey. May Oyo State continue to prosper,” Adeojo sought.
