National Council of Muslim Youths Organisation, NACOMYO has lauded Oyo State government for the review of the Computer Based Test in the ongoing teachers’ recruitment exercise to make provision for Jumat service and removal of religious questions from the examination.

This is contained in a statement in Ibadan by Coordinator, NACOMYO, Oyo State Chapter, Alhajj Dawood Afolabi.

Alhaji Afolabi said the twin decision of the State Post – Primary School Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM to review the timetable of the CBT for last Friday to allow for Jumat service and deduction of CRK questions from the marking scheme for the Muslim applicants was highly commendable .

He described the prompt actions of the chairman of the Commission, Pastor Akin Alamu to nip in the bud what could have precipitated crisis and set the Muslim Community against the government as a welcome development .

The NACOMYO Coordinator noted that if all political office holders swiftly respond to complaints like Pastor Alamu did, Nigeria will be a better place.

He implored the state government to employ more teachers for Islamic Religious Studies in the ongoing recruitment exercise as many schools do not offer the subject denying Muslim students the opportunity to understand more about the religion.
