NGO Donates First Aid Equipment to OYRTMA

 

In a significant move towards bolstering road safety, the non-governmental organization Action for Change Empowerment has generously donated first aid equipment to the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (OYRTMA).

Focusing on community development, the NGO supplied OYRTMA with first aid kits, medical supplies, and emergency equipment to enhance their response capabilities to accidents and emergencies on the state’s roads.

In his address, The Chairman Oyo State Management Authority (OYRTMA), Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd) expressed gratitude, stating that the unprecedented donation would greatly contribute to the agency’s operations.

He highlighted the commitment of the NGO to healthcare and its substantial assistance in rescue and emergency operations.

Adekoya acknowledged the potential widespread impact of the donation, emphasizing the deployment of the first aid boxes across the agency’s over fifty-six zones.

He welcomed further contributions and urged other government institutions to prioritize first aid provisions.

The General Manager of OYRTMA, Mr. Adekola Adeoye, assured the donor that the first aid equipment would be deployed appropriately for the benefit of both the agency’s personnel and the public.

Earlier in her remark, the representative of Action for Change Empowerment, Mrs Chiamaka Ukpanwanne explained that the NGO’s agenda includes extending similar donations to other states and traffic management authorities. She emphasized the importance of applying first aid not only to accident victims but also to the officers during their operations, recognizing the inherent dangers of working on the road.

While acknowledging the ongoing learning process, Mrs. Ukpanwanne expressed the NGO’s commitment to addressing additional needs, such as refurbishing ambulances. She reassured that the donated first aid would be put to good use, recognizing the limitations but emphasizing the positive impact on addressing road accidents.
