he Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NIsafetyE) a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers led by the National Chairman Engr Oluseyi Faluyi (FNSE,FNISafetyE) paid a courtesy visit on the chairman of Oyo State Hospital Management Board Dr Akin Fagbemi in his office, Secretariat,Ibadan.
In his words during the visit, the national chairman of the institution Engr Oluseyi Faluyi said there is an intrinsic link between health and safety,health and safety are not just interrelated; they are fundamentally intertwined.
He stressed further that ensuring the safety of people and environment is a critical means to safeguarding our health and as a safety engineers, their roles extends beyond the confines of engineering,it involves a holistic approach to preventing accidents and illnesses through the design,analysis and implementation of safe work practices.
He therefore reinstated the eagerness of the institution to collaborate with the Oyo state hospital management board on strengthening health and safety in the state.
“We believe that by joining forces,we can amplify our impact and enhance the well being of our communities”.The institution is committed to partnership that promote health and safety at both national and sub-national levels.
He spoke on planned partnership with the state government on how to curtail the spread of Tuberculosis and stop stigmatize the people living with disease in the state.
The chairman of the board Dr Akin Fagbemi in his comments said he is glad the institution paid him courtesy visit and came with the idea of partnering with the board on health and safety of our people in the state.
The board has been in existence for over 30 years ago in taking care of a lot activities within the board and it has about 58 secondary health facilities within the state which deliver qualitative and affordable health care to the people across the state.
Dr Fagbemi uses the medium to appreciate his excellency Engr Oluseyi Makinde for graciously appointed a Safety Ambassador to lead the board in the second tenure.
His excellency,Engr Oluseyi Makinde sees health as part of his cardinal focus both in the first tenure tagged “Omi-Tuntun 1.0 which is accelerated development and now Omi-Tuntun 2.0 which is sustainable development under which we have health care delivery to the people of Oyo State.
Dr Fagbemi also said he is looking forward to organising a sensitisation or a workshop with the institution where the doctors, the nurses can be used as to talk to our people on health and safety.
Present during the courtesy visit apart from National Chairman Engr Oluseyi Faluyi (FNSE), the state chairman of the institution,Engr Oladayo Awodele and Mr Sunday Obarowa Oyo state secretary of the institution.
Also at the visit are Mr Olagoke Muyiwa director of Admin and Supply,Dr Akinola Ajibola director of Medical Laboratory Services and Mr Stephen Olatunde, director Hospital Administrations.
