The Chairman of Oyo East Local Government in Oyo State, Prince Saheed Arowosaye Adeyemi popularly known as AROSAD has denied a report making rounds that elected local government chairmen exchanged blows with security guards at the inauguration of the remodelled Lekan Salami Stadium on Wednesday.
In a statement made available to journalists in Oyo on Thursday, the council boss said there was nothing of such at the event.
He added that although the security guard stationed at the entrance of the main bowl was extremely overzealous but he and his fellow chairmen kept their cool despite the provocation and harassment melted out to them by the guard.
AROSAD said the bouncers and their coordinator have apologized to him and other Chairmen who were harassed.
The statement reads in parts:”Our attention has been drawn to a report making the round that certain local government chairmen exchanged blows at the inauguration of the re-modelled Adamasingba Stadium.
“The story is an outright lie and figment of imagination of the author. There is no modicum of truth in the story. Our investigation showed that the said guard was not on uniform for him to be easily identified as one of the bouncers.
“Reporters are advised to verify their information before publishing.
” The cannon and tenets of the noble profession demand factual reportage of issues not a fabrication of information”.
“We use this medium to congratulate Governor Seyi Makinde of the Commissioning of the stadium”.
