A former secretary of Ogbomoso North Local Government and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Akinwale Solomon Akinwole has attributed his decision to quit the former ruling party in the state to the sterling performances of Engr Seyi Makinde which cut across all the zones in the state since he assumed office as the governor over a year ago.
Hon Akinwole stated this on Wednesday when he made a courtesy call to the state government delegation at the Governor’s office, Agodi, Ibadan.
He said his defection to the PDP has signalled mass exodus of APC gladiators to the ruling party.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to Makinde on Political Matters and Strategies, Hon Babatunde Oduyoye said Ogbomoso occupies a significant and symbolic region in Oyo State, adding that this informed the decision of Governor Makinde as a candidate then to flagged-off his campaign from the zone.
Oduyoye noted that the governor recognises the importance of Ogbomoso in the political annals of the state, hence why he approved the construction of Iseyin Ogbomoso road to boost agriculture in the zone.
He however said the government is making strategic moves to ensure more people join the party with the aim to making a Ogbomoso a predominantly PDP zone.
The event was attended by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Taiwo Adisa, Special Assistant on Print, Moses Alao among others
