Ogunwuyi, Oyo PDP Present Party’s Flags to Hon Oyedokun Timothy, Others in Ogbomoso Zone (Video)

Ahead of the April 27, 2024 local government elections in Oyo State, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has presented the party’s flag to Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy (OOT), the incumbent Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area and Chairmanship Candidate for the party.

The event which was held at Oja Igbo Town Hall in Ogbomoso South had in attendance party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and others.

Addressing party faithfuls and members of the public, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, Honourable Segun Ogunwuyi, emphasized the overwhelming support of the PDP in the state.

He said: “It is obvious the people are in support of PDP in the state, and also they are going to vote for us. We have made sure that our candidates are the best and that they represent the aspirations of our people.

“We are promising the people of Ogbomoso South and other Local governments in Ogbomoso Federal Consistency 1, the dividends of democracy, ensuring that their needs and concerns are addressed with urgency and dedication.”

Addressing concerns about election rigging, Ogunwuyi added that: “Some people think we are going to rig the election, but let me assure you that we are committed to a free and fair electoral process. If we are going to do so, we will not be moving from ward to ward seeking votes.

“So, we are appealing for your vote and urging everyone to participate actively in the democratic process.”

Also speaking, Ogbomoso South LG Chairman, Oyeniyi Timothy Oyedokun highlighted the achievements of his administration.

His words: “We have been working tirelessly since we assumed the role, providing numerous amenities to the people of Ogbomoso South with the help of the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde.

“Our commitment to infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment remains unwavering.

“We are also promising to do more if we are voted in, ensuring that every resident of Ogbomoso South experiences progress and prosperity.”

In his words, the lawmaker representing Ogo Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, Hon Sunday Makanjuola Ojo (SMATO), Oyo Assembly Majority Leader and lawmaker represent Ogbomoso South State Constituency, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin, ex-Commissioner for Works and Transport, Professor Raphael Afonja and a former board member of Oyo Local Government Service Commission, Hon John Oke Legacy all charged the people of Ogbomoso zone to replicate the bloc votes they delivered for Governor Seyi Makinde in the 2023 gubernatorial election.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, echoed the sentiments of progress and transparency within the party’s campaign, saying, “The PDP remains committed to delivering on its promises to the people of Ogbomoso South. We will continue to ensure transparency and accountability in governance, fostering a government that listens to the needs of its citizens and acts decisively to address them.”

The PDP Senatorial Candidate in Oyo North Senatorial District in the last election, Hon Akinwole Solomon Akinwale (Wolekanle), voiced his unwavering support for Oyeniyi Timothy Oyedokun’s re-election bid.

He said: “I wholeheartedly endorse Oyedokun’s candidacy. Together, we’ll champion the aspirations of Ogbomoso South, ensuring their voices resonate in the corridors of power.”

Similarly, the 2023 PDP House of Representative Candidate for Ogbomosho North, South, and Oriire Federal Constituency, Hon. Olufemi Oladokun Onireti, emphasized solidarity.

He said: “Oyedokun embodies the spirit of progress. With our collective determination, we’ll forge ahead, tackling challenges and fostering growth for every corner of our constituency.”

The campaign witnessed the presence of other local government chairmanship candidates in Ogbomoso Federal Constituency 1 which are the Chairman of Orire Local Government, Hon. Olateju Michael Alabi, and Hon. George Gbadegesin Ogunlade for Ogbomoso North local government.

Other notable leaders at the campaign flag-of were PDP State Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Hon Michael Ogunsina, Hon Taiwo Alagbe, Dr. Saka Balogun, alongside other esteemed party leaders.
