The Oyo state chapter of Igbo sociocultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has paid a touching tribute to the late mother of governor Seyi Makinde, Mama Abigail Amope Makinde, by describing her as an epitome of virtuous womanhood worthy of emulation.
The president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Oyo state, Engr Benjamin Ndubuisi Okorie, in a tribute letter he signed and made available to sunrisebulletin.com on Wednesday 2nd November, said that the entire Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Oyo state empathize with the governor’s family.
He maintained that no matter how old one’s aged parents are, one is always desirous of always having them around adding that no other love or affection supersedes that of a loving mother.
According to the letter, the sociocultural group noted that the legacies mama Abigail left behind will transcend many generations to come stating specifically that governor Makinde’s native intelligence apart from his sound educational background has helped him break many jinxes as the governor because he has been well prepared for leadership role not only in the state but Nigeria as a whole.
“The letter reads in part: “I, High Chief (Engr.) Ndubuisi OKORIE, FNSE; President Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Oyo State, on behalf of Ndi Igbo in Oyo state condole with His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde, FNSE and the entire Makinde family on the passing into glory of their mother and grandmother, mama Abigail Amope Makinde.
“Mama was indeed an epitome of virtuous womanhood worthy of emulation by all standard because of the quality of life and the great legacies she left behind.
“Indeed, the governor’s success story so far within less than two years in office is a clear attestation of both sound native intelligence and quality educational background in solving real life problems and the community in Oyo state has never had it this good in term of having sense of belonging in the affairs of the state.
“Our earnest prayer is that God grants mama eternal rest; and give the entire Makinde family the fortitude to bear the pain of her passage. REST IN PEACE MAMA AND GOOD NIGHT!.”
