In order for ensure widows and aged are economically bouyant , the Caretaker Chairman of Omi-Apata Local Council Development Area Hon Sheriff Adeojo has distributed empowerment materials to widows and financial assistance to aged drawn across all the wards of the council area.
While distributing the materials which comprises sewing machines, grinding machines and hair dryers with wash hair basins to widows and financial assistance to aged, Hon Sheriff Adeojo charged all the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials.
In his words ” my administration realised that widows and aged are faced with myriads of problems ranging from cultural, economical, psychological and emotional, hence my administration considered organising empowerment for them in order to be financially independent.”
The council boss further stated that he has embarked on empowerment of physically challenged and aged , drilling of boreholes at Bakatari, Ogundele Alaho, Siba, council secretariat, Ile tuntun, construction of LCDA secretariat fence, dredging of streams and rivers, grading of roads, distribution of COVID-19 palliatives, on going construction of Lade pedestrian bridge and many more.
Also speaking at the event, Hon Isiaka Adeola former Honourable member representing Ido LG in the Oyo State House of Assembly and some other PDP leaders Mallam Muili Yusuff, Alhaji Adeniran Adeniyi and other dignitaries that graced the occasion commended the council chairman for embarking on various people-orientef programmes and projects since his assumption of office. They also urged him to do more.
Some of the beneficiaries in their various responses , Mrs Tiamiyu Anifat and Mrs Taiwo Alabi expressed gratitude to Hon Sheriff Adeojo for the empowerment materials and financial assistance given to them.
In another development, Awa Oduduwa Incorporated honoured Hon Sheriff Adeojo as Akoni Okunrin Local Government Council Chairman of the year 2020 in recognition of his outstanding performance through the execution of projects that have direct impact on the lives of the people of Omi-Apata LCDA. The team led by Mr Ayodele Asiwaju and Erelu Morenike said investigation carried out showed that Hon Sheriff Adeojo deserved the award.
The programme had in attendance caretaker committee , political leaders, management team of Omi-Apata LCDA and a host of others .
